It’s no secret that to have a successful SEO campaign, it takes many tactics to come together like a puzzle to make it work.
First, you want to make sure you have a well-structured on-page SEO strategy, which means to optimize everything that is on the actual website.
Many SEO’s would stop there, but actually, your on-page is only half of the process.
Once you have finalized your on-page is when you can start building your off-page SEO, which is merely getting social and link signals back to your website.
Why is this important?
Well, in 2020, Google is becoming more aware of the spammy websites and their tactics and only want to rank authority, expertise, and trustworthy sites that are recognized as actual brands.
This is were receiving those backlinks, and social signals can help your website become an authority figure in your niche.
For example, If I worked for an advertising company, then I would target marketing, business, and branding websites to increase my authority.
If I worked for a custom software development company, then I would target other sites in the technology, software, and web development niche.
What that being said, let’s dive into some off-page SEO tactics that you can implement in 2020.
Here goes the list.
1. Create Link-Bait for Off-page SEO
Most people recognize link building with doing outreach for off-page seo, but by creating an informative and valuable piece of content can do a lot of that work for you.
Most people’s blogs or articles probably get little to no traffic because they lack one thing.
That is a visual appeal; in 2020, if people see lines of text, they will quickly bounce off your website.
This is why it is important to add related visuals in your articles to help increase user retention on your blog.
Adding infographics is another great way to keep your users engaged as they are comfortable and fun to look at.
While these are great for user retention, this alone won’t get you those backlinks that you’re looking for.
You want to make sure to add some statistics and data and make your own “case study” in a sense. Bloggers and reporters are always looking for new and fresh articles to use as citing sources for their latest news articles or blog.
This is when you “link-bait” can be of use since your data-driven piece of content provides actual unique content; it would be a no brainers to link out too.
2. Steal Your Competitors Guest Post for Off-page SEO
You have probably heard of guest posting as it’s one of the more popular ways of receiving a backlink, especially if you’re new to link building.
Guest posting is just writing a piece of article related to your niche and pitching that content to other websites in your industry to post in on their blog for a backlink usually.
Finding guest post on your own can be time-consuming and can be hard to classify a “good” website if you’re starting.
This is why you should find your competitor guest posts and steal those ideas to pitch your own.
As many digital marketers say, don’t try to reinvent the wheel.
You can find these ideas by using tools like Ahrefs or Semrush and just type in your competitors URL and go to their backlink profile.
From there, you can filter for content only backlinks if applicable and check out the kind of content that they produced to give you ideas of which type of content that particular website it is looking for.

3. Infographics for Off-page SEO
Yes, infographics can bring you a ton of backlinks by merely creating an informative and useful infographic that other websites can use within their blogs or article to give you that link back to your site.
This is a great tactic that doesn’t require much work besides creating the original infographic and then pitching it to website owners or bloggers to include in their content.
Just find a popular topic in your industry, gather some interesting data or facts, and create an appealing infographic.
If you can easily create one using something like Canva or you can go on somewhere like Fiverr and pay somebody to create one for you for very cheap.
If you want to take this a step further, you can even write a piece a paragraph to go with this infographic and then make a list of possible websites to pitch to.
Then explain that you have this informative infographic and even a fantastic intro paragraph to go with it.
Who could resist free content?
4. Network with bloggers in your industry
Many people want to make link building harder than what it is.
Most importantly, they forget how important relationship building in marketing is still a must today.
Find bloggers and website owners in your industry and start to build a genuine relationship with them. You can reach out to them by stating that you would love to connect with like-minded individuals in the same industry as you.
Don’t even start by asking for a link but instead let it happen naturally over time.
Yes, this tactic takes a bit longer, but the high authority backlinks you could potentially receive will be worth it.
You could start by searching for a related website to yours or go out on LinkedIn and Twitter to find famous bloggers in your niche.
Once you have built a relationship, then you could ask to guest post for them, do a content exchange, or even share each other’s content through social media.
